A German-born trance music DJ ranked among the best record-spinners in the United States has released a new mix album themed on Prague.
Prague ’11, released yesterday, is the sixth installment of Markus Schulz’s City Albums series, which have been based on Miami, Ibiza, Amsterdam, Toronto and Las Vegas to date.
The DJ first revealed the Czech capital would be the focus of this year’s compilation by holding the cover aloft during his set at Transmission: Future Cities at the 02 last November.
“Seeing music scenes expand, no matter what style they are, isn’t something a DJ ever tires of,” Schulz said in a statement, referring to the burgeoning dance music scene he has observed on several trips to the Golden City in recent years.
“Going to and from Prague in particular, but also to other Eastern European countries – Poland, Ukraine for example – over the course of five years, and witnessing what’s happened with the music there, has made for an incredible collective experience for me,” he said.
This 27-track, two-disc rundown including contributions from the DJ himself, label mates at Cold Harbour and many others looks set to grab as much acclaim among trance music fans as his previous well-received efforts.
